Terms of Service

Last updated: 21 October 2026

1. Who we are and acceptance

Finance Tracker (the "Service") is operated by FDO Technologies, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Finance Tracker is a personal finance application that lets you record and analyse your finances and, if you choose, link bank accounts on a read-only basis (section 5). We are not a bank or a payment service, we never move your money, and we do not provide financial, investment, tax or legal advice.

3. Eligibility

You must have reached the age of majority in your province or territory of residence. During the launch period, new accounts can be opened only from Canada.

4. Your account

Give accurate information, keep your password secret, and tell us promptly at security@financetracker.net if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account unless it results from our failure. We recommend turning on two-factor sign-in.

5. Linking bank accounts (Plaid)

If you link a bank account, you authorise us to retrieve your account information on a read-only basis through Plaid Inc. You sign in to your bank on Plaid's page; we never receive your bank login details and never initiate payments. Plaid's role and its own privacy policy are described in our Privacy Policy. You may unlink an account at any time, which ends our access; your institution may require you to renew the connection from time to time. Bank data can be delayed, incomplete or wrong at the source; check important figures with your institution.

Each paid plan includes a maximum number of bank connections, one connection being one login at one financial institution: none on the free plan, three on Pro, ten on Business. Bank connections are disconnected on the day a paid plan or trial ends (we tell you at least three days before when that day is known in advance, otherwise three days after the plan ended), and after thirty days in a state that needs you to sign in to the bank again. Disconnecting ends our access at Plaid; your imported transactions and balances stay in your account.

6. Paid plans

Some features require a paid plan. Prices are in Canadian dollars; any applicable taxes are shown at checkout. Plans bought on the web are billed by Stripe and renew monthly until you cancel; you keep access until the end of the paid period and, unless the law of your province requires otherwise, partial periods are not refunded. Plans bought in the Android app are billed by Google Play under Google Play's refund rules. The free trial of the Pro plan is offered once per person, on your personal space, and ends by itself unless you subscribe. Requesting the deletion of your account cancels your subscription at the end of the current period. When a paid plan ends, the features it included stop, and bank connections beyond what your plan then allows are disconnected as described in section 5. Every plan, the free one included, has limits (such as accounts, transactions entered per day and household members), shown on the plan page; reaching one stops you adding more of that kind and deletes nothing.

7. Your data

The information you enter or import remains yours. You allow us to host, process and display it only to provide the Service to you, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can export your data and delete your account at any time.

8. Acceptable use

Do not misuse the Service: no attempts to access data that is not yours, to disrupt or probe the Service's security, to automate access in ways that strain it, or to use it for unlawful purposes.

9. Not financial advice

Categories, reports and forecasts are estimates for your own record-keeping and planning. They are not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and you should not rely on them as such.

10. Availability and warranties

We work to keep the Service available and accurate but cannot promise that it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. Except for the guarantees that the law of your province gives consumers and that cannot be excluded, the Service is provided "as is".

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for our own fault where your province's law does not allow it to be excluded.

12. Ending the agreement

You may close your account at any time from your profile; what happens to your data is described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms or when the law requires it, and will tell you why unless the law prevents us.

13. Changes to these Terms

We will tell you about a material change in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not accept it, you may close your account before then without charge.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes go to the courts of Ontario. If you are a consumer living in another province or territory, you keep the protection of its mandatory laws and may bring a claim before its courts; for residents of Quebec, nothing in these Terms limits the protection of Quebec's Consumer Protection Act or the jurisdiction of Quebec's courts.
